End of July I went to the Lunceford family reunion and took the time to go visit the asylum, which is owned by one of my relatives (Joe Jordan).  Unfortunately I didn’t have the right lens with me for indoor shooting but here are a few images

3. • It was the WVA asylum from about the time of the second great war of rebellion until the mid 90’s when a new facility was built
   

4. • It is the second largest cut stone building in the world, the largest being the Kremlin
   

5. • Ghost Hunters  (SyFy channel) has been there twice as has Ghost Adventures (Travel Channel).  Ghost Hunters Celebrity will be there Aug 27 and 28, 2010
   

6. • Besides the asylum, they also have periodic side by side sand racing and a mud bog.  Large horsepower engines on vehicles with big wheels.  Somehow that seems to fit being on the same grounds as the asylum :-)
   

7. • People come from all over the world to visit the asylum, some take a tour, some pay to spend the night looking for ghosts
   

8. •  It’s not all open to the public yet, but they are working on it, if you like a combination of interesting history along with interesting buildings, whether you are into ghosts or not, it’s a great photo opportunity.   See their website for details.
