Off with the Bonnet, remove the engine and begin sandblasting

An inspection of the Bonnet after it was off showed a previous owner had banged into something and had repaired the Bonnet with cheap Bondo.  After taking the engine and other components out, it was discovered a little more than the Bonnet was bent, so was one of the struts.

Close-up of the bent strut, showing a crude attempt to fix it.  It had to be replaced!

The struts were removed for repair and painting.  Picture above show repair work on the rust spot in the firewall, behind the battery.  You can see this rust spot behind the break peddle in the first set of pictures (jag-pic1.html)

To find low spots in the body, a lite coat of paint is applied, then the body is block sanded.  Remaining color paint shows the low spots, which are filled in to provide a smooth body that will give the final paint an almost glass like finish.  This process was done three times.  Picture above is the second pass before sanding.

Final primer, she's now ready to put the struts back on and for painting!
