| Directions: From the intersection of I-64 and US 219 travel south on 219 to the city of Union. Continue for approx 6 miles on 219 South from Union. You will see a small white church on the left -- St. John's Church. Directly across 219 from the church is a wooded path that leads to the bridge. There is a sign marking the foot path and a split rail fence, both of which are in poor condition. The bridge is visible from 219 as it crosses the new road bridge. If heading North on 219 the bridge can not be seen until past the church. | ||||||

| Details: Sits on Laurel Creek. This bridge is about as small basic as they get, but it did have a nice 'loose board' sound when cars went through :-). River access is blocked, probably because the land on both sides is privately owned. As with most bridges like this, the inside is covered with graffiti. Still in use. | ||||||
| Directions: From the intersection of I-64 and US 219 travel south on 219 to the city of Salt Sulphur Springs. South of Salt Sulphur Springs turn right onto SR 219/7 towards Lillydale. At the intersection of SR219/7 and SR219/11 (Mt. Heddi Church) turn right onto SR219/11. Take a typical 1.25 lane WVa mountain road to the bridge. | ||||||

Rule #1 for taking covered bridge pictures: They have shinny tin roofs, don't take your photo's at high noon! |
||||||
| Details: Sits on Locust Creek. Rare truss construction technique. Open to foot traffic only. | ||||||
