Austria - May 2011

I spent three days in the Salzburg, Austria area.  It’s in the Alps, probably most famous in the US as the place ‘The Sound of Music’ was filmed.  Austria is a beautiful country and even though it was overcast and rainy most of the time I was there, I still found it a place I would go back to given half a chance, however doesn’t replace Italy as my fav spot that requires a passport to visit :-)

View of the Alps from a vista above my hotel, about 30 minutes outside of Salzburg

It was rainy and a  little chilly for the few days I was there.  Not the best for photo ops, but there was an upside, the coco was made with that great dark chocolate that you can’t easily get in my home country

One solution to a classic problem - what to do with retired hiking boots

Many of the houses have porches, usually on the second floor.  Probably because of the winter snow, whatever the reason, it’s a great idea
